15 Feb Concentrates 101
What are concentrates?
Concentrates are processed cannabis products obtained from the cannabis plant to provide the highest yield of terpenes, flavonoids, and beneficial plant lipids/cannabinoids. Concentrates come in many different forms depending on the process used. Some may be extracted with chemicals such as ethanol that are purged out of the concentrate at the end of the extractions process and tested for residual amounts before being released for sale. Whereas others come from heat and pressure.
These forms come by many names including, but not limited to:
- Cold Brew Concentrate
- Rosin
- Dry sift/kief
- Wax, Crumble, Badder/Batter, or Budder
- Live resin
- Sugar
- Distillate
- Bubble hash
- Shatter
Some concentrates may have aliases depending on where the product is purchased. One puff of concentrate can be compared to the potency of a pre-rolled joint, meaning you need very little to gain the desired effect.
What is a dab? Is that the same as concentrates?
Dab is a term used to describe an unspecified dose of concentrate. It can refer to a form of concentrate such as budder, crumble, sauce, shatter, or wax. Dab can also describe the act of inhaling vaporized cannabis concentrates through a temperature-specific heating method such as a dab rig or banger, e-rig, or vaporizer.
Do I need special equipment to consume concentrates?
That depends. The consumption method of concentrates varies depending on the type of concentrate used. People often consume concentrates, like our Cold Brew Concentrate and Rosin with a “rig” due to the high temperatures needed to vaporize the concentrates. Rigs are like water pipes but used for concentrates. Another way to consume is through an electronic vaporizer or pen. These devices heat the concentrate to an ideal temperature, allowing for vaporization to occur without any mess. Some concentrates, like our kief, can be sprinkled on to flower and combusted without any special device.

Concentrates come in various forms, can be consumed in a variety of ways, and the THC content can range depending on the type of concentrate used. If you consider this dosing method, we suggest low and slow so that you don’t go beyond your therapeutic window.
